All
eyes were on Trisha Krishnan as she went to vote in the Tamil Nadu assembly elections in Chennai on April 23. Amid rumours that the actress was going to retire from acting and settle down, Trisha joined the growing list of celebrities from Suriya, Vijay Sethupathi, Rajinikanth, Ajith Kumar, and, of course, Thalapathy Vijay who were spotted at the polling booths. During her brief appearance, Trisha urged others to go out and vote, completing their civic duty. But it was her Instagram post afterwards that drew eyebrows; fans stated that they accepted her not-so-subtle code word. Find out more below.
Trisha Krishanan's Instagram post gives shoutout to Vijay?
After she voted in the Tamil Nadu elections, Trisha took to Instagram to share a picture of the mark on her index finger, indicating that she had cast her vote. She also added the emojis of a hand with the index finger pointing up and an evil eye emoji. But it was her choice of song that drew the most attention. The actress chose the anthem,
Arjunaru Villu, from the 2004 film
Ghilli. Written and directed by Dharani, the Tamil film starred Vijay and Trisha.
In the comments section, fans believed that she was giving a shoutout to Vijay, who is turning politician with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), which is contesting the elections for the first time.
Ghilli, which was released over two decades ago, was their first film together. Fans wrote that the song was a 'code-word' for Trisha's support for the actor-turned-politician and they approved.
Trisha Krishnan and Vijay relationship rumours
Vijay's divorce from
Sangeetha Sornalingam has received plenty of attention lately amidst the news of his last film,
Jana Nayagan, being stuck with the censor board, being leaked online and of course, his political campaigning. His recent attendance at a wedding with Trisha was also scrunitised as a first step to the couple trying to slowly make it official as a couple. In her divorce case filing, Sangeetha alleged that Vijay had an extramarital affair with an actress.
Furthermore, a YouTube report suggested that the actress might be thinking about winding down her acting career. Trisha, who has the films
Karuppu, Vishwambhara, and
Ram lined up, has not signed up for any new features. However, she rubbished the rumours with a note on Instagram that mocked the claim as fiction and wondered, "Apparently I've quit films, married a rich businessman and I'm raising quadruplets who turned two yesterday!"
