Fresh
off the victory from the Cannes Film Festival after Fjord won the Palme d'Or, Sebastian Stan is gearing up for his next feature film. He is joining Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II in London. Earlier this month, the writer-director confirmed that Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Charles Dance and Sebastian Koch would join Stan as the new additions to the sequel. Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, while Colin Farrell, Jeffrey Wright and Andy Serkis will all reprise their roles from the first film. While at Cannes, Stan talked about the sequel and his look. Here's what he said!
Sebastian Stan teases Harvey Dent character for The Batman: Part II
In an interview with
Deadline, Stan spoke about playing "many roles" in
The Batman: Part II and basically confirmed his role. The actor has been rumoured for a while to play Harvey Dent, the District Attorney for Gotham who goes mad after mobster Sal “Boss” Maroni scars half his face by throwing acid on it. He gains the moniker Two-Face.
The Oscar nominee also shared that he had been working with the hair and makeup teams about Two-Face's disfigurement. Stan added, "I’m excited, I’m nervous and trying to keep surprising myself."
Game of Thrones actor Dance is supposed to be playing Charles Dent, Harvey’s father, while Johansson is reportedly playing Harvey's wife Gilda. The duo is rumored to be the main antagonists of the Batman sequel led by Pattinson.
The Batman: Part II will release in theatres on October 1, 2027.
Sebastian Stan's upcoming projects
The actor is set to return as the Winter Soldier, Bucky Barnes, in
Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, 2026. He will reunite with
Chris Evans, who is returning as Captain America for the long-awaited sequel. But seeing how Stan has been signing on for more high-profile roles in other feature films, fans feel his character may meet his end in the next
Avengers sequel. The actor's participation in the next Marvel sequel
Avengers: Secret Wars for 2027 seems unclear.
His latest film
Fjord, written and directed by Cristian Mungiu, won the top prize at Cannes. He and Renate Reinsve play a Romanian-Norwegian couple in the drama that has become an Oscar frontrunner after its win. Besides
The Batman: Part II, Stan will co-star in
Impunity with Ana de Armas. The spy thriller in English and Spanish from award-winning Chilean filmmaker Felipe Gálvez will be filmed in Chile, the UK and Spain.
