Idol 3 winner and Paatal Lok 2 actor Prashant Tamang is no more. The actor breathed his last on January 11, 2026. Media reports suggest that the actor was found dead at his residence in New Delhi. He was 43. According to media reports, Prashant passed away due to cardiac arrest. However, an official medical confirmation is awaited. Prashant had become a household name after winning the third season of Indian Idol. Tributes have started pouring in for the singer and actor on social media.

According to NDTV, Raju Bista mourned the loss of Prashant. He is the member of Parliament from Darjeeling and National Spokesperson of BJP. In a statement, he said, "The untimely demise of Prashant Tamang, the popular singer and actor, has left the Gorkha community, along with the entire world of arts and music, stunned and heartbroken."

He further added, "During the Indian Idol competition, he succeeded in instilling a sense of unity and pride not only in the entire Darjeeling hills, Terai, Dooars, Sikkim, and Northeast India, but also among the Gorkha community worldwide. The passing of such a talented and gifted personality at a young age has caused an irreparable loss to Indian music and cinema, and especially to the Gorkhali community."

For the unversed, Prashant rose to fame in 2007 after he won Indian Idol 3. Following the same, he came up with his music album Dhanyavad. Several overseas performances later, Prashant established himself as as playback and live performer. He acted in Jaideep Ahlawat's Paatal Lok 2. The actor played the role of Daniel Lecho.He made his acting debut with Gorkha Paltan in 2010 and later acted in films like Angalo Yo Maya Ko, Kina Maya Ma, Nishani, Pardesi, and more.
