Indian
cinema is witnessing a surge of films, flooding fans with genres they cannot miss. After Dhurandhar 2’s release, audience expectations have risen higher than ever. Amid the competition, the Indian film industries are competing with each other. The scenario has changed after Southern films like RRR, Pushpa 2: The Rise, and others received enormous box-office collections and love on a global stage. Now, with release dates close to each other, it has become crucial for Bollywood and South films to connect with the audience while also offering a versatile option. Wondering who all are facing off against each other? Here’s the deets.
A Battle At Box-office
Beginning with
Spirit, which eyes its release on Eid 2027, and
Peddi’s release date shifting to the first week of June, Bollywood is going to face serious battles with the South films. Earlier, Rajnikanth’s
Jailer 2 was set to release on June 12, which made it clash with Imtiaz Ali’s
Main Vaapis Aaunga, but now it is revealed that
Jailer 2 has pushed its release to September.
The battle takes off with Tamil action-drama
Karuppu, by Suriya and featuring Trisha Krishnan, which releases on May 14. The film will tackle
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, by Mudassar Aziz, which brings a star-studded cast of
Ayushmann Khurrana, Sara Ali Khan, Rakul Preet and Wamiqa Gabbi. Though they differ in their genres of action-drama and romance-comedy, the films might steal each other's thunder.
Coming next face-to-face are
Drishyam 3 and
Chand Mera Dil. The former is the third sequel to the high-profile murder mystery by Mohanlal. The film is set to release on May 21. On the other side is Lakshya and Ananya Panday’s romantic starrer
Chand Mera Dil, eyeing its release the next day, May 22.
Varun Dhawan’s
Hai Jawani To Ishq Hona Hai is not escaping this conflict either. The film initially shifted its release date from June 5, as Yash’s
Toxic was landing on the same date. But after the South film pushed the dates, the Bollywood film returned to its original plan, only to find itself competing with
Peddi, starring Ram Charan opposite Jahnvi Kapoor.
Peddi also eyes a similar tenure for its release.
A Substantial Clash- Salman Khan vs Prabhas
The clash is surely one of the most significant ones, though arriving in 2027. Vamshi Paidipally’s directorial, starring
Salman Khan and Nayanthara, has laid out its release for Eid 2027. The current title for the film is
SVC63. The film will battle at the box office with Prabhas’
Spirit. But, according to some rumours, the film was expected to shift its release from March 5, 2027, avoiding the clash, which was eventually washed down by the makers that they are adhering to their original plan. These films are not only a testimony to the growth of Indian Cinema, but clash of titans. The filmmakers and audiences are always left with the toughest choices.
