Vijay has made a very successful transition from cinema to politics, but that does not mean he has left his film roots. The actor-turned-politician is busy getting visits from prominent members of the Tamil film industry after assuming office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Days after veteran actor Kamal Haasan met Vijay and submitted several requests concerning the film industry, filmmaker K. S. Ravikumar also met the new Chief Minister along with members of the Tamil Film Directors’ Association. Ravikumar later shared pictures from the meeting on social media and described it as a 'memorable moment.'

The meeting comes shortly after Kamal Haasan also visited Vijay and congratulated him on becoming the Chief Minister. Sharing details of their interaction on X, Kamal said he appreciated Vijay’s vision and plans for Tamil Nadu’s future. The veteran actor had revealed that Vijay discussed several developmental ideas and aspirations for the state during their meeting. Kamal also praised Vijay’s humility and warmth, stating that the interaction made him feel proud.During the visit, Kamal Haasan had submitted six major demands related to the Tamil film industry. According to him, the industry is currently facing multiple challenges that require government intervention. Among the demands listed by Kamal were the launch of a state-owned OTT platform by the Tamil Nadu government, permission for five shows in theatres and an eight-week OTT release window for films. The actor also requested the abolition of Local Body Entertainment Tax, stronger anti-piracy measures and film production incentive schemes to support the industry financially.
KS Ravikumar and Vijay's equation
The recent meeting with K. S. Ravikumar has gone viral because of the filmmaker’s history with Vijay. Ravikumar directed Vijay in the 1999 film
Minsara Kanna, which remains their only collaboration to date. Although the family drama did not perform well commercially, the actor and director maintained mutual admiration over the years. During the audio launch of
Aadhavan in 2009, Vijay jokingly remarked that he was perhaps the only actor who had not delivered a successful hit with K. S. Ravikumar.
In previous interviews, Ravikumar revealed that he had attempted to collaborate with Vijay again after Minsara Kanna, but several projects failed to materialise due to scheduling and other issues. The director had also once considered Vijay for a role in superstar Rajinikanth’s film
Padaiyappa. However, because Vijay was unavailable at the time, the role eventually went to actor Abbas.
