His record-breaking performance has won praise from across the country, including from sporting icons Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh as well. Akshay Kumar took to X to congratulate the athlete and celebrate a landmark moment for Indian athletics. He posted a picture of sprinter Gurindervir Singh and wrote that he had been reading about him becoming India’s fastest man alive, adding that he was “seriously blown away” by the achievement. He posted that for years foreign athletes dominated the 100m races and set records, while many believed Indians could not achieve the same. He added that opinions have now changed after this breakthrough.
The actor posted that he was proud of Gurindervir Singh and even prouder of his association with the armed forces, while also expressing pride in the athlete’s Punjabi roots.
