It will be theatrically released on January 21, 2027. The latest update is that a grand song will be reportedly shot soon.
Love & War shoot update
According to a source, the makers of
Love & War are planning to begin a song shoot in early May. The schedule is expected to run for around 15 to 20 days. The update comes at a time when the film’s shoot is already underway, with work progressing across different parts of the production.
The source added that the upcoming schedule will focus on a song sequence, something that has often been a key element in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s films. His songs are known for their detailing and presentation, which has set certain expectations around this schedule as well.
Ashwin Kaushal to play Ranbir Kapoor's father
Meanwhile, Ashwin Kaushal has come on board to play Ranbir Kapoor's father in
Love & War. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, the actor recalled meeting director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for the first time. During their first meeting, Kaushal was offered another role. A day later, he got a call from SLB's office, and was informed that he would be playing Ranbir's father in the movie. The actor added that Ranbir's father, late Rishi Kapoor, was his idol. He looked up to the late actor as a father figure, and now destiny has given him a chance to play Ranbir's dad in this movie.

On April 17, Bhansali Productions announced the new release date of
Love & War. The movie, featuring Ranbir, Alia and Vicky, was initially set for Christmas 2025 release. Later, reports suggested that the movie might arrive on the big screen on March 20 this year. And now, it is confirmed to be out in cinemas on
January 21, 2027.
This movie marks Ranbir and Alia's reunion after
Brahmastra. On the other hand, Vicky reunites with both Alia and Ranbir after
Raazi and
Sanju. Interestingly, SLB has previously worked with Alia on
Gangubai Kathiawadi and on
Saawariya with Ranbir.
