featuring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, hit the big screen on May 15. Directed by RJ Balaji, the film faced a delay in its release. However, it arrived on the big screen a day after its original release. Interestingly, the action drama registered a good box office opening of Rs 15.5 crore. It was followed by the film minting Rs 24.15 crore registered on day two at the box office. And while it is currently playing in theatres, the film will eventually be released on OTT. According to the latest buzz, Karuppu might premiere on a leading streaming platform.

Karuppu will reportedly stream on Netflix after concluding its theatrical run. Media reports suggest that the film could arrive on OTT four weeks post its release. However, there is no official confirmation by the makers yet. The Suriya and Trisha-starrer has been produced by Dream Warrior Pictures.

Karuppu's shows were cancelled on May 14. The makers had received a special permission from Tamil Nadu CM Thalapathy Vijay for 9 am shows. But the movie couldn't release on the big screen. In this movie, Suriya plays the role of Karuppuswamy and Saravanan. As for Trisha, the actress essays the character of lawyer Preethi. Singer Chinmayi Sripada has dubbed for Trisha in Karuppu.

Chinmayi wrote, "Strange I am readying myself saying this... I was genuinely afraid this time, of sharing that I dubbed in Karuppu." The singer further called RJ Balaji and his wife 'lovely people'. She continued to praise the filmmaker by saying that he is a man who worked hard to make his dreams come true. She recalled crying buckets while dubbing a couple of scenes in the film. The scenes acted a trigger for Chinmayi and she almost saw everything play out from the past. For the unversed, the singer was banned by Tamil Nadu Dubbing Union after she spoke about s*xual harassment in the industry. She even named the union president during MeToo movement. Despite that, the singer dubbed for Trisha in
Leo. The dubbing union had reportedly condemned Lokesh Kanagaraj for using banned artist for his film.
