The
bitter inheritance battle surrounding late Sona Comstar chief Sunjay Kapur drags on. In the latest twist that has taken a dramatically acrimonious turn, sources say that actor Karisma Kapoor’s children have now sought criminal action, alleging that the will at the centre of the dispute is a clear and deliberate forgery. As per sources close to Times Now, Karisma Kapoor’s children have moved the court claiming that the disputed will suffers from serious procedural irregularities and was never legally executed in Gurugram, as stated in official records. Sources further allege that witnesses have confirmed the will was not signed in Gurugram, raising grave doubts over its authenticity.
The children have reportedly told the court that the will is an “unambiguous forgery”, insisting that it fails to meet basic legal requirements under succession law. They have also urged the court to seize the mobile phones of Priya Kapur and Sunjay Kapur, claiming that digital evidence could help establish the truth behind how and where the will was prepared and executed.Legal expert Abha Singh, speaking to the publication, explained the legal recourse available in such cases, stating, “There is a provision under the law that you can challenge the will. That is what Karisma is doing.” She added that the burden now lies on the proponents of the will to prove its validity in a court of law.
Sources close to the case reiterate that any will must be proved through strict legal scrutiny, including verification of signatures, witnesses, and location of execution. Until that happens, the document remains open to challenge. As the Sunjay Kapur will row keeps escalating legally, it is expected to witness further explosive revelations in the coming days, with the court set to closely examine claims of forgery, witness testimony, and alleged irregularities. For now, what began as an inheritance dispute has turned into a high-stakes courtroom battle, with criminal allegations adding a new and serious dimension to the unfolding saga.
The Sunjay Kapur Case
Sunjay Kapur, former husband of actor Karisma Kapoor, passed away on June 12, 2025, reportedly after suffering a heart attack while playing polo in England. He left behind an estate estimated to be worth around Rs 30,000 crore, including major stakes in Sona Comstar and other business interests.
Soon after his death, a high-profile inheritance dispute broke out, involving several family members - his third wife Priya Sachdev Kapur, his children from his marriage to Karisma Kapoor, his mother Rani Kapur, and his sister. At the centre of the legal battle is a will dated March 21, 2025, which allegedly leaves most, if not all, of Sunjay Kapur’s personal assets to his third wife, Priya Kapur. However, his children have challenged this will in the Delhi High Court, claiming it is forged and fabricated. The will is surrounded by several unanswered questions - who drafted it, when Sunjay Kapur first saw or reviewed it, what changes he may have suggested, who made those changes, and whether the document was genuinely finalised with his knowledge and consent. These have become the core around which an intense legal battle is playing out over Sunjay Kapur’s vast estate.
