Ram Gopal Varma recently joined Zoom for an exclusive conversation on Spotlight Sessions. In an interview with us, the filmmaker opened up about his controversial tweets on X (formerly Twitter). Ram stated
that he has always been upfront about his views on everything, even before his first film, Siva, was released. When it comes to social media, the director feels that because one writes a short tweet, the context can be misconstrued.
Ram Gopal Varma on his controversial tweets
In an exclusive chat with
Zoom, the
Rangeela director mentioned, "So on a lifecycle, on a lifestyle, I don't think any person can have a judgement on someone else and on a moral aspect or whatever aspect. So, sometimes it could be to praise or it could be to irritate someone, depending on my feeling at that point of time. Apart from films, I keep making some comment to the other whatever comes to my notice or what I feel at that time. And Twitter is an immediate outlet."

Ram further expressed how X is different from the usual interviews that take place. "Unlike an interview where you plan, you're talking about something and all that, it just happens out of the blue. And it is possible that sometimes I put something which should not have been put or sometimes it could be misunderstood. Sometimes it could be looked at out of context. I'm not trying to regret anything. I'm not saying that."

"Expressing yourself is being what you are. And I don't care about what people think. I don't want to be politically right. I don't want to be morally right. Whether it's my family or my friends or whatever, I don't care about anyone. So I live for myself on what I believe in. And that is what exactly I am. I am my Twitter, or Twitter is me," he stated.
