After
the deaths of their husbands Dilip Kumar and Dharmendra, veteran actresses Saira Banu and Hema Malini met up in Mumbai and their reunion photos will bring a smile to your face. While Saira Banu and Hema have never acted together, the visit brought up memories for the Junglee star. The veteran actress took to her social media to tell her followers about Hema's visit and how she had met the younger actress for the first time on a film set. She also recalled how the two had lived next to one another at the Krishna Raj Sagar Dam several years ago.
Saira Banu's heartfelt post for Hema Malini
On Instagram, Saira Banu shared that Hema had come to visit her again. Earlier, she had been accompanied by her cousin Prabha but this time, she came alone. Posting pics of the reunion, the veteran actress also showed off a photo from her wedding to Dilip Kumar with Hema and Dharmendra. The foursome had been friends for a long time and the couple often visited Dilip Kumar when he was ailing.
In her post, Saira remembered the first time she met Hema in 1966 on the sets of
Deewana opposite co-star Raj Kapoor. She said that she was "simply mesmerised by her beauty," in the first interaction. Her recollections then took her to their days at Krishna Raj Sagar Dam. She stated that their rooms were next to each other and the actresses would sit on the verandah for hours and talk about everything that came to mind from beauty and skin care to important matters. They were also accompanied by their mothers and it felt very wholesome to her.
Saira Banu and Hema Malini's friendship
While
Hema Malini is now a Member of Parliament and has a busy routine as a politician, Saira recalled that their friendship has still endured. Not much has changed, the veteran actress revealed, as the duo have an understanding and a familiarity that cannot be explained. It has not lessened over time either.
The
Ayee Milan Ki Bela actress also recalled their late husbands. Dharmendra died on November 24, 2025, while
Dilip Kumar passed away on July 7, 2021. Saira shared that the late Dharmendra was always warm and sincere in his affections towards them; he respected the elder actor too much. She ended her note recalling the lifelong bond that the Bollywood stars had. "And in moments like these, one realises not everything that is precious belongs to the past," Saira wrote. Some part of it was still there with her.
