Stranger Things is over. But the conspiracy theories have far from died down. While fans are still wondering if the entire Stranger Things story is a novel being written by Mike (Finn Wolfhard), the other
burning question plaguing harcore ST fans are what really happened to Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) at the end of the finale? Did she really get the freedom she always craved for? Well, it turns out Sadie Sink, who plays the role of Max in the series has her own theory to it, and the answer will possibly break a lot of hearts.
Sadie Sink Reveals The Fate Of Eleven
Sadie Sink was recently a guest at Jimmy Fallon's The Tonight Show. On being asked by the host on what she thinks happened to Eleven, after the showdown with Vecna, Sink told Jimmy Fallon that she thinks Eleven died at the end of Stranger Things. “I think she’s dead, I don’t know… Is that a hot take or something? I think [Mike’s story] is one last story. And then they just say goodbye to childhood and that is just one final tale and that is it. I think it is just like a coping thing. I think it is stronger. That is my interpretation.”
What Happened To Eleven At End Of Stranger Things Finale?
The Stranger Things finale leaves Eleven’s fate deliberately open-ended, with Mike (Finn Wolfhard) later recounting a Dungeons & Dragons story about her - hoping, perhaps, that the tale might be more than just fiction. In the series finale, Eleven ultimately triumphs over the combined forces of Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower) and the Mind Flayer, aided by Mike, Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will (Noah Schnapp), Max (Sadie Sink), Nancy (Natalia Dyer) and Robin (Maya Hawke).
Vecna is ultimately finished off by Joyce (Winona Ryder), who, in a deeply satisfying moment, finally puts that axe to use. Having already accepted her death, Eleven shares a quiet, private moment with Mike in the Void, asking him to understand her sacrifice and explain it to the others. Moments later, the group watches in horror as Eleven stands resolute at the edge of the Upside Down. The bomb detonates, the gate seals shut—and she vanishes, her fate left uncertain.
