ADOR's shocking decision to remove Danielle Marsh from NewJeans has blown up the K-pop industry. On December 29, in a surprise announcement, HYBE's subsidiary label announced its decision by terminating
Danielle's exclusive contract citing "breach," paving way for her exit. While industry insiders have been discussing the repercussions, fans who call themselves Bunnies, are extremely furious. Now, many sources are analysing the reason behind ADOR's move, with many claiming that the company was in no mood to bring back NewJeans as a full group comprising of Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein, in the first place. Some reports also allege that a commercial led to Danielle getting ousted.
ADOR removed Danielle from NewJeans when she tried to go independent?
Several viral posts on social media claim that since Danielle filmed a snack commercial in Southeast Asia without ADOR's permission, infuriated the label. It projected her acting independently, against the court order that upheld ADOR's contract with the five members of the girl band.
Brand deal lead to Danielle's contract termination with ADOR: Report
In addition to that, Danielle allegedly signed a contract with Omega alone, instead of the entire group with which the initial contract was discussed under ADOR. Sources claim while the deal got her billions of won, it went against ADOR's will. Some even claim Danielle's mother colluded with Min Hee-jin to break away from ADOR."According to a YT source, Danielle signed an advertising contract with Omega watch and earned over 1 billion won on her own. This ad should have been for NJS, negotiated by ADOR, but after the "termination," she did it alone...." a viral post read on X (formerly Twitter).
ADOR did not want NewJeans to stay as one group
While these claims remain one-sided, other posts on social media allege that ADOR never had any intention of taking NewJeans back. ADOR wanted the court to hold the contract valid to give it a leverage and control over the band. "They dug up old achievements, repackaged archived content, and paraded the 'good old ADOR' image like proof of innocence. Not to protect the girls, but to strengthen their position," read a post on X. ADOR's alleged plan was to break the group, but when the members stayed strong, the company picked on targetting them unilaterally. For Danielle to declare another legal battle would cost a lot of time and money. In similar case scenerios, the artists mostly end up exhausted. And given Danielle, and all the other members are between the age of 17-21, a waste of their prime years would be uncalled for.
ADOR didn't inform Danielle?
ADOR confirmed that Haerin and Hyein were returing to the label and as members of NewJeans. After "extensive discussions" Hanni also decided to return, while resolution was underway with Minji. Many reports state NewJeans members weren't informed of Danielle being removed from the group. Infact Danielle herself wasn't told until ADOR was ready to release the statement, and when she got to know, she was at a charity event. Fans believe the label keeping the entire group in darkness and this might impact Minji's contract negotiations and her expected return to the company.
