After
two decades, Steven Spielberg is back to making a UFO film. His last was the Tom Cruise starrer War of the Worlds (2005). This time, the story of his next comes from the Oscar winner himself. And after being untitled for nearly two years, the Hollywood film finally has a name, Disclosure Day. Starring Emily Blunt, Josh O'Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Wyatt Russell, and Colman Domingo, the sci-fi film ponders about the existence of aliens and what that knowledge would mean for humanity.
Disclosure Day teaser shows humanity's reaction to aliens
On X (formerly Twitter), the official teaser of Spielberg's
Disclosure Day was shared without much fanfare. The caption said, "A film by Steven Spielberg. Disclosure Day is in theaters 06.12.26." Luckily the teaser and Universal’s synopsis about the film were a little bit more forthcoming. It asked, "If you found out we weren’t alone, if someone showed you, proved it to you, would that frighten you? This summer, the truth belongs to seven billion people. We are coming close to … Disclosure Day.”

The teaser also indicates that Josh O'Connor's character finds proof about the existence of aliens and decides to share the truth, not just with those around him. But with the entire world! So what happens when humans learn about aliens? The film, written by Spielberg's longtime collaborator David Koepp, will reveal all next summer when it releases on June 12, 2026.
