is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated releases of the year. Directed by Aditya Dhar, the spy thriller features Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and Akshaye Khanna. In the days leading up to its release, social media was abuzz with questions about why the film hadn’t received heavy promotional push. Adding to the speculation, the press screening scheduled for Thursday was cancelled. Some users claimed the film was merely average and suggested that was why the makers skipped the screening. Negative reactions also began circulating online. In response, casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who worked on the film, took to X to address the growing criticism.
Mukesh Chhabra slams Dhurandhar's casting
On Friday, Mukesh wrote on X (Formerly known as Twitter), he wrote, “It’s amazing how the film has turned out. I’ve been reading so many unnecessary negative reviews, and honestly, it’s very funny. I was one of the HODs on the film. The cast and crew screening had to be cancelled because of a technical glitch. Kya log hain… kisi ne film dekhi bhi nahi, but negativity ke liye ready hain. Haha. Phaad degi box office (What kind of people are these? No one has even watched the film, yet they’re ready to spread negativity. It will set the box office on fire)! Can’t wait for the magic.”

Dhurandhar follows a high-stakes operation set in Karachi’s underworld, drawing loose inspiration from real incidents such as the IC-814 hijacking. Mixing elements of espionage and patriotism, the film has also attracted some pre-release controversy due to claims of a connection to the late Major Mohit Sharma - an association the filmmakers have firmly denied.
