Tamil actor Muthukalai, known for sharing screen space with leading comedians such as Vadivelu and Vivek, is currently going through a difficult phase in his personal life. The actor, who also inspired many by earning three academic degrees in recent years, has now appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay for financial assistance after his wife Malathi suffered a brain haemorrhage and was admitted to hospital. In a video message, the actor stated that he has been handling the situation alone for more than two weeks and is now seeking help during this critical period.
Muthukalai Appeals To Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay
According to reports, Muthukalai’s wife Malathi, aged 47, recently suffered a brain haemorrhage and underwent surgery. However, she has reportedly remained unconscious and bedridden, while also facing breathing complications caused by an infection over the past 17 days. Doctors have advised further treatment and advanced medical care for her recovery. Amid the emotional and financial strain, Muthukalai took to social media requesting Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay to extend support for his wife’s treatment.
Muthukalai has previously worked with Vijay in films such as
Youth, Thamizhan, Nenjinile, Bagavathi, and
Sura. Given Vijay’s long-standing connection with the Tamil film industry before entering politics, many fans and industry members are hoping that he will support his former co-star in this difficult time.
Muthukalai’s Journey In Tamil Cinema
Muthukalai came to Chennai from his hometown of Rajapalayam with aspirations of becoming a stunt artist. However, his early years in the industry were filled with struggles, poverty, and uncertainty. During his difficult phase, he even worked at AVM Studios while trying to establish himself in cinema. Despite the hardships, he eventually found opportunities as an actor and appeared in films such as Kadhalukku Aarathi and Ponmanam. Over time, he became recognised for his comic timing and dialogue deliver.
The actor later became a regular face in comedy scenes featuring stars like Vadivelu and Vivek. Popular comedy tracks including
Chicken 65, Poosanikkaiyai Pakkam, and
Sethu Sethu Vaidhiyam helped him gain significant visibility among Tamil cinema audiences.Vijay took oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10 after his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), emerged as the single largest party in the Assembly election. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated him on the victory. He said that the Central Government would keep working with the Tamil Nadu Government to improve the lives of people, while extending his best wishes for Vijay’s tenure ahead through a post on X.
