On Instagram, Dharma Productions shared the photos from the exclusive screening in New York. They posted, "A night to remember as the team of #Homebound is surrounded by love at the screening in NYC hosted by our executive producer, @martinscorsese_!" Written and directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the Hindi film is based on Basharat Peer's 2020 New York Times article about two real-life friends during the lockdown.
Scorsese and Ghaywan were joined by the producers and lead actors Ishaan and Vishal, who play best friends Shoaib and Chandan. Janhvi Kapoor, who also stars in the film, was not present at the screening. South star Siddharth was also present for the screening. Later, director Neeraj also shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the screening was a momentous night for him. He wrote, "Sitting across from him is the highest point in my career in cinema. Mr. Martin Scorsese, the EP on #Homebound hosted a screening and did a QnA with me in NYC!"
He continued, "I was obviously nervous and sweating about doing a QnA with the master. Mr. Scorsese saw that in the green room. He narrated a funny anecdote about how he was mistaken by the cops to be the hillside strangler. He did that because he wanted to calm me down without even me being aware of it. That’s the generous selfless master that he is. I don’t know what future holds for this film but this right here is the biggest award for me." The filmmaker also added that newly elected New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani's mother, filmmaker Mira Nair, also dropped in to watch the film. "Thank you for all who came and blessed us for our Oscar campaign. Specially chuffed to have Mira Nair come for our screening," he concluded.
