Ramesh Sippy recalls memories with Sholay's Veeru Dharmendra
Speaking exclusively to
Zoom, Sippy shared deep admiration and emotion as he remembered the actor who immortalised the role of Veeru. He said, “A wonderful man and a brilliant actor. He went beyond himself to be good to people. That was his nature. And as an actor, I don't think there are that many actors you can remember. Very few and far between. And certainly one of those very, very few along with Amiti ji (Amitabh Bachchan). They made a supremely wonderful pair in Sholay.”Sippy revealed how his memories of the legendary actor remain intensely personal and sentimental. “So I would like to say that my memories of him are very fond and very emotionally tied. And today is feeling a very strange mix of emotions and remembering his wonderful work is equally beautiful. We will always miss him and I do hope his soul rests in peace. I wish him a great new life where he's gone. And he leaves us sad, but I'm sure we'll remember him for more beautiful things than this day.”
Ramesh Sippy sends wishes to Deol family
Reflecting on the sheer magnitude of Dharmendra’s contributions, Sippy added that fans across generations would forever hold his legacy close to their hearts. “I'm sure, through all the films that he has done, we will always cherish his work, cherish him. I wish his family, Sunny, Bobby, all of them to be able to get over this. And like true Deols, they will come out stronger and full of Dharam Ji in their hearts. So from my side a big salute to a wonderful actor and a wonderful person.”Watch the full interview:
