But later on his Instagram Stories, the actor revealed that it was actually an April Fool's prank. Schnapp is best known to audiences around the world as Will Byers on Netflix's Stranger Things. The hit series ended on December 31, 2025, after a successful six-year run. The actor is yet to announce his next project. He attends the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is majoring in entrepreneurship and innovation. Schnapp will graduate later this year.
Noah Schnapp pranks netizens with mystery boyfriend on Instagram
On April 1, Noah Schnapp went public with his new boyfriend on Instagram. He posted a celebratory photo of himself with his partner on his Instagram Story and wrote, "One month of us," and added a red heart emoji. The young couple was photographed on a rooftop with their arms around one another as they looked out to the picturesque view. The mystery partner was wearing a black fleece jacket and a white beanie. He later added another story sharing it was an April Fool's prank.
Schnapp announced to fans in January 2023 that he was gay with a TikTok video. His caption on social media said, "When I finally told my friends and family I was gay after being scared in the closet for 18 years and all they said was ‘we know.'" His character Will was confirmed to be gay in the fourth season of
Stranger Things, co-created by Matt and Ross Duffer. In the same post, Schnapp had hinted that he was more similar to Will than he thought."

In the final season of
Stranger Things, Will came out to his family and friends before the big battle with Vecna in Hawkins, Indiana. The character has an unrequited crush on his best friend Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) but the two remain as friends instead.
He told
Tudum that he was really nervous about Will's coming out scene in Season 5 because it meant a lot to him. He read it alone in his room and started crying because Will's state resonated with him. He shared that he texted the Duffer Brothers that Will's arc was awesome. He added, "I didn’t know if they were ever gonna write that story for Will. They could have just left it up in the air, so getting to finally see it happen was amazing."
