Akhanda 2 OTT Release Date: The release of Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Akhanda 2 was delayed from its original December 5 date due to financial disputes between 14 Reels Plus and Eros. With the issues now resolved and the Madras High Court granting clearance, the film is set to arrive in theatres on December 12. However, this has turned into a death knell for mid-budget Telugu film Mowgli, which had earlier eyed the same release date. Director Sandeep Raj, whose first film Colour Photo too had released on OTT in 2020 took to X, formerly Twitter, to share a heartbreaking note. The release of Nandamuri Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 in theatres on December 12 has come as a big obstacle for Sandeep Raj's Mowgli. The film, starring Roshan Kanakala and Sakshi
Sagar in lead roles cannot clash with the mega-budget Akhanda 2, and the fact that producers People Media Factory had already entered into an OTT deal means delaying the film will not be possible as well. This has prompted makers to turn Mowgli into a direct-to-digital release.
Taking to X, Sandeep shared a long note, blaming himself for the film not getting a theatrical release. "Maybe Colour Photo and Mowgli deserved another DIRECTOR instead of me. These movies were made by a group of passionate people who can do anything for their profession," he wrote, adding that the common points between both projects are "Facing bad luck with their release, just when everything seemed to be going well," and "Me".Also Read: Prabhas Is SAFE: The Raja Saab Director Maruthi Shares Update Amid Japan EarthquakeAccording to Sandeep, possibly he is the "Bad Luck". "Even I’m starting to feel that way," the filmmaker confessed, adding, "My dream of seeing the title “Directed by Sandeep Raj” on the big screen is becoming harder day by day. I think SILVERSCREEN hates me.""Mowgli was made with the passion, sweat, and blood of so many dedicated people like Roshan, Saroj garu, Sakshi, Harsha, DOP Maruthi, Bhairava and many more. I truly hope that all good things happen to Mowgli at the very least for their sake," he concluded.Sandeep Raj's debut film Colour Photo had gone on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu.
