What is stopping them from having a happy relationship? Will they get married? Here we are, decoding Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’s climax.
Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri plot
Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri begins with Pinky Mehra (Neena Gupta), a popular U.S.-based wedding planner, who is in Delhi for work. Men in their late 50s are smitten by her, and so is the father of the bride-to-be. Amid the wedding, Rehan (
Kartik Aaryan) makes a spectacular entry in a helicopter with the groom. The bride instantly falls in love with him, establishing the fact that Rehan is the new stud in town. Rehan is Pinky’s son and is devoted to her. After the wedding, he is off to Croatia for a week-long yacht party. At the airport’s bookstore, he meets Rumi Vardhan (Ananya Panday), a fresh author who struggles to sell copies of her book, Love In Agra. She meets Rehan, popularly called Ray. He comes across as irritating. When Rumi forgets her passport at the bookstore, he helps her find it.
Following their initial banter at the airport, Ray and Rumi reach Croatia. Things couldn’t get worse for her as she has to share a room with him. They dance, sing and flaunt their perfectly toned figures on exotic beaches. After spending a week together, Ray and Rumi realise that they’re made for each other. On the 10th day, Rumi gets a call, informing her that her father’s health has deteriorated and he has been taken to the hospital. At the same time, her elder sister, Jia (Chandni Bhabhda), has found her lifemate and plans to get married and settle in Canada. Rumi has to take the toughest decision of her life – father or boyfriend of 10 days. She chooses the former and calls off the relationship with Ray. Rumi says she can only marry him and move to the U.S after her father dies, which she prays never happens.
Conflict
Rumi returns to Agra for her sister’s wedding. She cancels her plan to live independently and chooses family over other desires. Ray can’t get over Rumi. He walks back into her life, but this time as Jia’s wedding planner. He attempts to impress Rumi’s father, an ex-Army father (Jackie Shroff) who has raised two daughters singlehandedly after their mother’s demise. Ray also comes from a fractured family, as his parents separated when he was young. As Rumi continues ignoring his feelings towards her and stands by her ethics and emotional grounding, Ray’s mother, Pinky, helps him win her back. At Jia’s sangeet, she meets Rumi. Ray has an emotional conversation with Rumi’s father and reveals that he loves her. That’s when they hear music playing in another room. Rumi’s father questions her relationship with Ray. Pinky arrives at their bungalow, dancing to
Choli Ke Peeche. She is in an intoxicated state. Her words affect Rumi and she reprimands her. Ray disapproves of her language for his mother. Amid this, the father’s health deteriorates and he is rushed to the hospital. Pinky apologises to Rumi and approves of her relationship with Ray.
After he recovers, Rumi and Ray get Jia married. However, the gaps in the relationship are not healed yet. Months pass by. Rumi’s father agrees to shift to the U.S with her, but she believes his happiness lies in the ancestral property where he can still feel the presence of his late wife. Pinky senses Ray’s grief. She asks him to leave the U.S and live with Rumi in India. He declines the suggestion. Pinky also decides to move to Agra and settle with her son and Rumi.
