Instagram’s video editing feature, Edits, completed a year on April 22, 2026. Marking the occasion, Meta has announced the upcoming features and changes in the reel-sharing platform. Among the upcoming changes, the platform will expand its video editing capabilities by improving caption tools, offering detailed colour controls, and more. As per Brett Westervelt, the lead behind the edits, Meta is also planning to introduce features such as speed curve adjustments and overall customisation options to help users modify tools in accordance with their workflow. Currently, Instagram positions Edits as a video editing tool that comes with a dedicated section where you can save content and store ideas. Moreover, it offers insights such as summaries of audience responses. In the second year, the company will expand these features and roll out personalised recommendations, additional audience insights, and more options to customise the workspace. This will include the ability to organise frequently used tools and apply for specific project themes. Instagram lets users access templates that can be used and examine how a specific reel has been made, which includes the effects, transitions, and audio. Now the platform said that it will expand this template feature further, allowing more complex edits with layered effects and enhanced sharing of creative elements.
