On
The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote the television special
The Punisher: One Last Kill, Bernthal got candid about his friend Holland, who he said was the greatest to ever do it. He shared that he had known Holland since he was 17 and had never seen anyone with that kind of determination, trust, or belief, while also being deeply kind and good.
Furthermore, he revealed that he was so proud to see Holland grow up to be a real movie star and how he's managed to balance his personal and professional life. Referring to his relationship with Spider-Man co-star Zendaya, Bernthal said, "I love the other half of him. I love that he’s in love." Stating that he was happy that Holland had found his partner, Bernthal also added the younger actor was "going to be a great father." The actor also revealed that they helped each other out with their Marvel audition tapes when they were working on the film Pilgrimage in Ireland and a decade later, they were not only working together on
Spider-Man: Brand New Day but also in
The Odyssey as co-stars again.
