Sachin Pilgaonkar on Yamla Pagla Deewana
Speaking to
ETimes, Sachin Pilgaonkar mentioned, "I had registered the title Yamla Pagla Deewana with IMPPA. A producer once asked me for it, but I refused. A few days later, Dharamji himself called. He spoke with such warmth and said he wanted the title. I immediately told him, 'It was mine only until you asked for it. Now it's yours! How could I say no to him? What can we give to a man who has given so much to Indian cinema? His legacy will always stand tall."

Sachin recalls working with the great actor
Further adding to the conversation, Sachin recalled working with the veteran actor saying, "Dharamji was not only the most handsome actor but also one of the most humble personalities I have ever met. The first time I worked with him, I was just nine years old. It was for the film Majhli Didi (1967), directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, where I played Meena Kumariji's younger brother and Dharamji played her husband. Since Dharamji never said no to Hrishida, he accepted the role even though it wasn't a prominent one. I remember seeing this incredibly handsome man on set who spoke gently and respectfully not just to his co-stars but to every technician present."For the unversed, Dharmendra took his last breath yesterday, November 24, in Mumbai, at the age of 89.
