Jana Nayagan And Parasakthi's Ticket Booking Delayed Over Pending CBFC Clearance

Vijay's much-awaited filmJana Nayagan, is set to release on January 9. A day later, Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi is scheduled to hit screens. Fans of the actors are waiting with anticipation as to when the film's advance booking will open. However, to their disappointment, the bookings haven't opened yet, as both films are yet to receive certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The uncertainty has led theatre owners to keep bookings pending, upsetting audiences who are eager to secure tickets ahead of release. With release dates fast approaching, the absence of certification has posed significant challenges for exhibitors, who remain worried about last-minute schedule changes.

Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi Tickets: Why haven't bookings opened yet?

Single screens are facing pressure as they attempt to finalise show schedules and open bookings. The norm before a film releases is to wait for the censor certificate to avoid complications or disruptions if further editing is ordered. Some theatres have reportedly considered opening the bookings without the certificate. Despite these setbacks in Tamil Nadu, Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi advance bookings have begun in Karnataka and Kerala. Early numbers indicate a strong response, with opening day collections hitting new records. But openings are yet to open in Tamil Nadu.

As per reports, CBFC has suggested a few minor revisions to Jana Nayagan, including modifications of dialogues. Although it is believed that the makers have agreed to these changes, the film is still awaiting its final censor certificate. The political themes present in both Jana Nayagan and Parasakthi are said to be a possible factor contributing to the delay in certification. Recently, the deputy general secretary of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, CTR Nirmal Kumar, had questioned the delay, saying that the censor board had already recommended a UA certificate for the film weeks ago and yet an official verdict wasn't issued.

Directed by H Vinoth, Jana Nayagan stars Vijay alongside Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju and is one of the most awaited films in the state, also marking Vijay’s last film before his political journey. Parasakthi, featuring Sivakarthikeyan and Ravi Mohan, is set against the backdrop of the anti-Hindi protests of the 1960s.
