Times Now
Emraan Hashmi, who is gearing up for the release of his upcoming courtroom drama Haq, has opened up about his individuality, journey, and why he believes the 'rules' of Bollywood never really applied to
him. In an exclusive chat with Zoom, the actor got candid about how his unconventional film choices, early success, and professional approach shaped his career - even without being part of the traditional Bollywood 'clan.'
Emraan on his unconventional Bollywood journey
Speaking about his journey, Emraan shared, “I just realised that the rules don’t apply to me because my journey as an actor - when I started and the kind of roles I was doing - was very different. And still, I was getting love from fans and audiences.”He continued, "It’s not like I haven’t tried certain things. In our Bollywood industry, whether it’s award functions or film parties (which are extremely boring by the way), I’ve done all that. It’s not like I haven’t tried.”Opening up about his efforts to fit into the industry’s social circle, the Haq star added, “But I felt that for a year or two, I did try to be part of that 'clan,' you know, Bollywood being 'one big family.' But ultimately, I realised that your work and your professionalism speak volumes for you. These things don’t decide whether you’ll be in the race for the long run or not.”He concluded by emphasising the importance of fan love and consistency in one’s career. "Ultimately, it’s the films you do, the happiness you bring to your fans - they are the ones who build you, support you, and help facilitate your longevity here."
