Legendary film director Bharathiraja was hospitalised in Chennai a few days ago after complaining of breathlessness. The 84-year-old filmmaker was rushed to MGM Healthcare, where he is currently being treated by a team of doctors. The medical centre has issued a statement confirming that his condition is stable and that he will continue to receive treatment in the Critical Care Unit.Following this, several prominent filmmakers from the Tamil film industry visited the veteran director. They later took to social media to share a video from the hospital premises, speaking about his well-being and urging fans not to believe fake news regarding Bharathiraja’s health. Selvamani, the current Secretary of the Tamil Nadu Directors Association, released a video in which he revealed that Bharathiraja has been diagnosed with pneumonia. He said, “Over the last few days, we have seen several fake news reports about Bharathiraja’s health in the media. To clarify this, we came to visit him. He has been diagnosed with pneumonia, but his condition is stable. Please do not share fake news and wait for official updates from the hospital authorities.”

A medical bulletin released on Saturday (January 3) stated, “Mr Bharathiraja, renowned movie director, is presently admitted at MGM Healthcare, Aminjikkarai, following complaints of breathlessness. He is receiving appropriate medical care in the intensive care unit. His clinical condition is stable, and he continues to be under close monitoring by our team of medical experts. With appropriate support, his vital parameters remain within normal limits. He is responding satisfactorily to the ongoing treatment.
