Vaapas Aaunga has finally been released in theatres this Friday (June 12). The makers of the Imtiaz Ali film did a solid promotion of a love story which is set against the backdrop of the Partition between India and Pakistan in 1947. Starring Diljit Dosanjh, Vedang Raina, Sharvari and Naseeruddin Shah in the lead roles, Main Vaapas Aaunga created a solid buzz amongst the masses before its release. However, the film took a slow start on its opening day, as it couldn’t even register double-digit numbers at the box office.
Main Vaapas Aaunga Opening Day Box Office Report
Main Vaapas Aaunga has got a poor response from the audience at the box office. According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk, the Imtiaz Ali-directed film minted Rs 1.15 crore only at the box office in India. The film didn’t take an expected start on its opening day, as it faced tough competition from two more films at the box office. For the unversed,
Kangana Ranaut’s Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and Manoj Bajpayee’s Governor – The Silent Saviour were also released on June 12, 2026, in theatres. Coming back to Main Vaapas Aaunga, the film ran in theatres with just 11 per cent occupancy. It has to be noted that the cross-border love story received a positive response from the critics. They praised Shah and Dosanjh’s performances in the film. However, the audience didn’t like to watch an old-school drama.
The numbers are expected to improve over the weekend. However, the competition from Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata and Governor The Silent Survivor could create hurdles in the box office run of Main Vaapas Aaunga.
