Vernon and The 8's new unit V8
SEVENTEEN members Vernon and The8 are officially set to launch a brand-new subunit called V8. On May 28, PLEDIS Entertainment confirmed the exciting news, announcing that the duo will release their first album on June 29.
The unit’s name cleverly combines Vernon’s V and The8’s 8, while also representing the energy and power of a V8 engine. According to the agency, the concept reflects the duo’s strong chemistry, dynamic momentum, and high-powered performance style. Ahead of the official debut, Vernon and The8 have already begun interacting with fans through an ongoing promotional campaign titled V8 HUNT. The challenge encourages fans to spot and share photos of the letters V8 in their everyday surroundings.Following the album release, V8 will kick off a concert tour starting in July. The duo is scheduled to perform in Goyang, South Korea, on July 11 and 12, before heading to Hong Kong for additional concerts on July 18 and 19. More tour dates are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
All about SEVENTEEN's subunits
SEVENTEEN has thirteen members:
S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino. It is one of the rare groups where no members have exited or parted ways since their 2015 debut.
V8 now joins SEVENTEEN’s expanding lineup of successful subunits. The group’s first official subunit, BSS - consisting of DK, Seungkwan, and Hoshi - debuted in 2018 and returned in 2023 with the massively successful single album Second Wind. Their hit track
Fighting featuring Lee Young-ji became a chart success and helped the trio achieve their first music show win.SEVENTEEN later introduced several other popular units including Jeonghan X Wonwoo in 2024, Hoshi X Woozi in 2025 and CxM featuring S.Coups and Mingyu in 2025. Before V8, DK X Seungkwan formed a subunit in January this year. Including V8, SEVENTEEN now has 5 subunits, which is not surprising considering its a 13-member group.
