Yadav has surrendered in jail in connection with the cheque bounce case. According to latest update, the actor surrendered before the Tihar Haill authorities on Thursday (February 5) after the Delhi High Court refused to extend the deadline. According to report, Rajpal surrendered before the jail authorities at 4 pm today. Now, the jail authorities will follow the standard operating procedure, reported by PTI. Before surrendering himself, the actor informed the court that he had brought a cheque of Rs 25 lakh and assured that the pending amount would also be paid. He requested the court to grant some relief to him.

Rajpal Yadav requested the court to grant him some time to arrange the money. However, the court reiterated that surrender was mandatory before any consideration on merits. In the court orders, the judge stated that only after surrender they would examine whether any relief could be extended. The
Delhi HC also clarified that the actor got reliefs multiple times based on his repeated assurances. He had assured that the dispute would be settled amicably and the paymets would be made to the complainant's company. Eventually, the court found out that the assurances were never fulfilled despite several opportunities. For the unversed, Rajpal Yadav had filed a petition before the Delhi HC to extend the deadline. However, the court rejected it by stating that they will not grant it and he will have to surrender in jail on February 4.
Judge Swarana Kanta Sharma said that she rejected these submissions because he got two days to surrender since he was in Mumbai. The judge also said that there is no chance of any leniency for Rajpal Yadav as he had done this before several times. According to Hindustan Times report, the judge mentioned in the statement, "This he has done at least 15-20 times in the past. His conduct has been mentioned in the last order. He has not complied with any order, any undertaking… I don't think there is any ground for him for any leniency any more.” The more details regarding the case are awaited.
