Qualcomm on thursday announced the launch o the new Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processors at its Snapdragon for India event in New Delhi. According to the company, the new chipsets are designed to offer smooth performance, better gaming, improved cameras and faster connectivity for mid-range and budget smartphones.According to the US-based tech giant, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chip is designed for a more premium experience without spending flagship-level money. The processor brings up to 21 percent better GPU performance, faster app launches, improved AI-powered camera features, and support for Wi-Fi 7 and ultra-fast 5G connectivity.The company has also added a new feature called Snapdragon Smooth Motion UI. According to Qualcomm,
the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 can reduce screen stutter by 18 per cent and improve app launch speeds by 20 per cent for a smoother overall experience.“India continues to play a critical role for Qualcomm Technologies as one of the most dynamic mobile markets in the world. Qualcomm says the chipset delivers up to 77 per cent improved GPU performance compared to the previous generation. The chipset also brings support for 90FPS gaming to the Snapdragon 4 series for the first time.The Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 also supports Dual SIM Dual Active connectivity with 5G + 5G/4G support which will allow users to stay connected on two networks at the same time.Qualcomm confirmed that upcoming smartphones from Xiaomi will feature the Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 chipset. Meanwhile, Oppo, Realme, and Xiaomi are expected to launch devices powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 in the second half of 2026.Alongside the chipset launch, Qualcomm also announced a partnership with Indian audio brand Boat to bring Snapdragon Sound technology to India. The first product under this partnership will be the Nirvana Eutopia 2 Pro earbuds powered by the Snapdragon S3 Gen 1 Sound platform.
