Farida Jalal remembers Dharmendra
While talking to us exclusively on
Zoom, Farida Jalal expressed, "Last few years I hardly met him but I regret that very much. There was a film called Baharon Ki Manzil and I played Neena Kumari's daughter in that and Rahman was playing my father. The film didn't do very well together but that's when I first met Dharam ji and he was always a father figure, always, and then I did Loafer in which I played his sister. He made that track, very famous song Koi Shehri Babu and Mumtaaz was in that film. And he was a darling, darling man, of course, don't we know, I mean, you see. He was the best. God bless him with a better place, that's the only consolation."

The Deols let me tell you one thing, I've worked in this industry for over nearly 70 years now. I started in 1968, my first film was Taqdeer in 1968. You can count the years with that. But you know, I will always say the Deols belong to another planet altogether. Whatever, whatever. With a lot of respect and respectability, they didn't do anything vulgar, out of place. They were never there. I love working with all of them. I've done films with Bobby and with Sonny, of course. And I started my career when Dharmendra ji was in the film with Meenaji. Some lovely songs, all the spiritual hair and on my head. He always gets me. Whenever I met him anywhere, at a party or a gathering or anywhere. I'm so proud for him, I love him," the actress added emotionally.
