Indian Idol 16's Amritha Rajan on handling criticism
Speaking exclusively to us, Indian Idol 16 contestant Amritha Rajan opened up about dealing with constructive criticism from the judges. She said, "I take it with an open heart. I see it as guidance, not rejection. Every comment helps me refine my art and evolve as a performer. So, I believe growth comes from humility, the willingness to learn and unlearn." The contestant further mentioned that she sees her co-contestants as 'collaborators'. "We are all here on a different journey, and music is not a race. And I genuinely admire the unique qualities each one brings. I believe in healthy competition that inspires growth, not comparison. As our conversation continued, Amritha revealed that she prepares mentally and physically for a high pressure performance. Giving her audition example, the Indian Idol 16 contestant stated, "I used to walk from the 6th floor to the 14th floor while singing. That helped me practise breath control and stability because when your heartbeat is racing, you need to learn how to manage your voice even under pressure."She further added, "I also create distractions intentionally while practising, like throwing something in the air and catching it, or writing something on paper while singing. Even before coming to Mumbai, I used to do this, like singing while driving, walking or playing. So, it helps me stay in rhythm and stay connected with my music, no matter what's happening around me." Amritha also mentioned that her mental prep includes keeping herself grounded by talking positively to herself, reminding how far she has come and that she is here because of passion for music. As far as Indian Idol 16 is concerned, the show airs on Sony Entertainment Television every weekend at 8 pm.Do you find this article useful?
