Bandwaale to premiere in February 2026
After the critically acclaimed
Bandish Bandits, Amazon Prime Video is back with another musical show. On social media, the streaming service announced Bandwaale, which is set to be “the voice of rebellion.” The first poster of
Bandwaale features Shalini in the middle, holding a notebook. On the left is Swanand Kirkire, who is playing a trumpet, while
Zahan Kapoor is shown as a DJ.
According to the streamer, Shalini will play young poetess Miriam from Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. Miriam shares her work online anonymously as she strives for independence and a sense of self. The personal poems, which are written by Kausar Munir, give insight into her inner world. Swanand and Zahan play Robo and DJ Psycho, respectively; her bandmates and closest companions from Ratlam. They bring music, humour, and companionship into her world.
Yashraj Mukhate's OTT debut
Bandwaale is Yashraj's first OTT project. The content creator and YouTuber first went viral in August 2020 after composing a rap song to dialogues from Rupal Patel's Kokila in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya. He also created satirical songs from a Bigg Boss dialogue from Shehnaaz Gill called Sadda Kutta Tommy and the viral song Pawri Ho Rahi Hai. In 2024, he made his film debut with the Marathi film Ek Don Teen Char, directed by Varun Narvekar, with the title song, Love Chumbak.
Ankur Tewari, Swanand Kirkire on Bandwaale
Swanand, who is also a co-writer on the project, shared that the Amazon Prime Video series grew from everyday observations about “expression, hesitation, and the quiet courage it takes to be yourself.” The Hindi series emphasises how small choices can help confidence and identity grow. Meanwhile, his collaborator, Ankur Tewari, added that they wanted to tell a grounded story that was honest and familiar. The heartfelt series explores how Miriam’s poetry helps to shape her journey of self-discovery.
