With the third film, Mardaani 3, in the franchise, Rani Mukerji is once again back on the big screen as Shivani Shivaji Roy. The National Award-winning actress, who completes three decades in Bollywood
in 2026, returns to acting after Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway (2023). Speaking with Times Now Group Editor-in-Chief Navika Kumar, Rani revealed the encouragement she has received from her husband, Aditya Chopra, to continue pursuing acting. She shared that he also explained to their daughter, Adira, why it was important for Rani to return to work as well. The actress also got candid about her relationship with Adira.

In a conversation with Navika Kumar, Rani revealed that she and husband Aditya value both family and work equally. She explained, “Time with her is sacrosant but what is beautiful is that I have this amazing husband who talks to her about the importance of Mumma going to work. That support that I have and I wish that for every woman and every husband. We women, are going to power through and do what we want to do. But if we have our partner's support, it becomes sweeter. It just makes us feel nice. It's not as if we are giving that much importance, but what happens is when they are with us in this journey of ours, it just feels complete.”
Rani recalled that she was very obsessed with daughter Adira when she was a baby and it was Aditya who urged her to step out and be herself too. He reminded her to go back to work. It was her late father, Ram Mukherjee, who used to do that before.She added, “It was my husband reminding me that you just can't be a mum, you are who you are. You can't forget that about you, and you need to get back to work, and I did exactly that. I'm so grateful there was a reality check. I was also touched that he knows who he's married.”
Rani describes her powerful bond with daughter Adira
The actress also revealed that she became very paranoid about her daughter after her premature birth, and also because she gave birth a little later at age 37. Now, they have managed to enjoy a cool relationship with one another.
Speaking about Adira, Rani shared, “She's a beautiful mix of both of us. She prefers to say to everyone that she looks like Mumma. My time with Adira is something that I need because she gives me that power. I just love it.” The
Hichki star also revealed that Adira refers to her mother as an older sister and even gives her fashion advice. Rani stated that Adira loves singing and is learning classical English music. Her love of singing has been passed down from her grandmothers.
