is your worst fear?" asks Javier Bardem's Max Cady in the new trailer for Cape Fear. The new remake of the 1991 Martin Scorsese film is premiering on June 5, 2026, on Apple TV. Bardem terrorises a lawyer couple played by Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson in the upcoming limited series. Scorsese and Steven Spielberg are executive producers on the project from creator, showrunner and executive producer Nick Antosca. The first trailer shows the extent of Max Cady's campaign to get back at the people who put him behind bars for a crime he did not commit.

Apple TV dropped the trailer of its latest TV series that will get audiences talking. In the psychological horror thriller, Javier Bardem steps into the role of Max Cady, who spent 17 years in jail for a crime he did not commit. Once he is released from prison, he makes sure to let married lawyers Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Patrick Wilson) know that he has not forgotten the reason why he spent nearly two decades of his life locked up.

The Bowdens are terrified after they have a run-in with Max and it seems that they are hiding many secrets, not just from Max, but from the rest of their family as well. Will Max get his overdue vengeance or will the Bowdens manage to escape? The trailer captures the nightmare of the Bowdens as they are trapped by Max around every corner of their house. The rest of the cast includes actors Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Malia Pyles, CCH Pounder, Jamie Hector and Anna Baryshnikov. Morten Tyldum has directed the pilot. The first two episodes of the 10-part limited series will be released on Friday, June 5. Cape Fear will drop new episodes every Friday until July 31, 2026.

Previous versions of Cape Fear

Originally adapted from the 1957 novel The Executioners by John D. MacDonald, the 1991 film by Scorsese was also a remake. It was inspired by Gregory Peck’s 1962 version, which also starred Robert Mitchum, Polly Bergen, Lori Martin, Martin Balsam, Jack Kruschen, and Telly Savalas. Mitchum, Peck and Balsam had cameos in the 1991 film which featured Robert De Niro as Max Cady.Nick Nolte and Jessica Lange played the Bowden while Joe Don Baker and Juliette Lewis were part of the supporting cast. The 1991 version became the first Scorsese film to gross more than $100 million at the box office.
