in June last year, ace filmmaker Imtiaz Ali left fans rejoiced as he announced his next an intriguing film with Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina. The movie, at the time locked a Baisakhi 2026 release date. But it seems fans will have to wait a little longer to witness Imtiaz's magic on the big screen. The Rockstar director took to his official social media handle to lock a new release date of his next, which is yet untitled.

Applause Entertainment Presents, A Window Seat Films Production."In the picture shared alongside the post, Imtiaz is seen busy with his director duties, and giving instructions with a straight face. It seems the shoot for the film is in full swing and team is working hard on the project to deliver a memorable tale of love and longing.Take a look:
Sharvari's reaction to Imtiaz Ali's film
At the time of the announcement of the film, last year, Sharvari expressed her excitement for being roped in for the movie and it was officially announced on the ocassion of her birthday. Sharvari took to social media and shared a heartfelt note in which she said that being directed by Imtiaz Ali had been a long-held dream and that the announcement was the "best birthday surprise ever." The
Munjya actress said that the project would be a great learning curve for her and that it was an honour to be a part of his vision. Sharvari thanked Imtiaz for roping her and said she feels lucky to be part of what she called a "dream team."In her note, Sharvari also shared that she was excited for the journey ahead.
What we know about Imtiaz Ali's next?
As per a report in Mid Day, the movie takes place in Punjab and is based on events from the 1940s, and is set in the backdrop of Partition. The film chronicles the tale of a young couple whose lives are tragically torn apart by the upheaval. It focuses at the events and its effects on the two lovers. Sharvari will be seen playing the young female lead opposite Vedang Raina in the movie. At the time, Imtiaz Ali was also reported to be in conversations to feature two more leading female stars in the movie, because the story takes place over several generations of a family.
Naseeruddin Shah joins the team
Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah will play a key role in the project, which adds even more weight to it. Costume designer Sheetal Sharma, who worked with Imtiaz Ali on
Chamkila, is also working on this movie.
Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina's work fronts
Meanwhile, on the work fronts, Diljit recently starred in Anurag Singh's blockbuster film
Border 2. He plays Param Vir Chakra awardee Flying Officer Nirmal Jit Singh Sekhon in the war-drama. As for Sharvari, she will be seen in YRF's
Alpha, also featuring Alia Bhatt. Sharvari also has an Ali Abbas Zafar film opposite Ahaan Panday in the pipeline.On the other hand, Vedang Raina was last seen in Vasan Bala directed Jigra, no new project has been announced for the actor as of now.
