The shoot for the film is currently on! However, the latest development is that Panchayat fame Jitendra Kumar has reportedly joined the star cast (Pankaj Tripathi, Divyenndu, Ali Fazal and Abhishek Banerjee). According to a media report, he will play Bablu Pandit, a character originally essayed by Vikrant Massey.

Jitendra and the makers of Mirzapur: The Film haven't spilled beans about the actor's role. However, a source told Mid-Day that the actor will wrap up the film by Monday. It is reportedly being shot in Varanasi and Mumbai. For the unversed, Vikrant's character was killed in the series. It will be interesting to see how the makers bring Bablu Pandit back in the movie. Talking about Jitendra taking up the role, another source added, "Vikrant lent innocence and a subtle strength to Bablu Pandit. That naïvety will remain intact with Jitendra’s portrayal as he brings an affability and sincerity to the screen. His chemistry with Ali is also something to watch out for. In Jitendra, the makers have not only found a [good] actor but, from the perspective of visibility, he is extremely popular in the heartland.
