As social media users grow nostalgic for the year 2016, Kangana Ranaut is presenting a contrary view. The Tanu Weds Manu actress and Member of Parliament from Mandi took to Instagram to post 'Thank God
it's not 2016'. While the actress had no film releases in 2016, she won a slew of awards for her double role in Tanu Weds Manu Returns, including the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Critics) and her second National Film Award for Best Actress. In her post, Kangana also revealed why the year became "living hell" for her after a legal battle involving a colleague.
Kangana Ranaut is not happy to look back at 2016
On Instagram, the actress asked about the latest social media, "Why is everyone missing 2016 suddenly? It was the inevitable ascend of my career trajectory, post back to back blockbusters like
Queen and Tanu weds Manu returns I became the highest paid actress but then in the January of 2016 one of my colleagues sent me that controversial legal notice which shook and divided the industry in to insiders and outsiders. Success became poisonous and life became a living hell. Sides were taken and many more legal battles followed."
Kangana continued looking back at the past and shared, "Ten years ago had I known in 2026 I will be eating carbs in all my meals, will be laughing a lot and none of the 2016 drama would mean anything to anyone few years down the line, honestly I would have not been so miserable back then. Thank God it’s not 2016 and we are in 2026."

The actress-turned-politician is back on the film set with
Bharatha Bhhagya Vidhata this month. Produced by her production banner, Manikarnika Films Production, the film is directed by Manoj Tapadia. She will also
reunite with actor R Madhavan in an untitled psychological thriller film.This year, Kangana is also making her Hollywood debut with
Blessed Be the Evil, starring Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone. Directed by Anurag Rudra, the horror drama follows a Christian couple who purchase an abandoned farm with a dark past after experiencing a devastating miscarriage.
