Netflix’s
glossy romantic dramedyEmily in Paris is officially returning for a sixth season, much to the delight of fans who have followed Emily Cooper’s whirlwind professional and personal journey across Europe. After splitting its most recent season between France and Italy, the series is now heading back to where it all began - Paris. With unresolved romances, shifting priorities, and big career choices, season 6 promises more drama, fashion, and emotional twists.
Emily and Gabriel to patch up?
Season five, which premiered less than three weeks ago, delivered strong numbers for the streamer. The show amassed an impressive 26.8 million views globally within its first 11 days, reaffirming its popularity and paving the way for a swift renewal. The latest season followed Emily (Lily Collins) as she expanded her horizons by opening a satellite office for her Paris-based marketing agency in Rome.
While Italy brought new opportunities and a fresh romantic connection, Emily’s heart ultimately led her back to Paris.“She really chooses her own life in Paris and her work, and what she’s worked so hard to achieve,” series creator Darren Star told
The Hollywood Reporter about Emily’s decision. “I think ultimately that’s where her heart was and it clarified for her the fact that she wants to be in Paris and she wants to live there, and it’s not a temporary thing.”
Naturally, the biggest question going into season six revolves around Emily’s long-running, on-again-off-again romance with Gabriel (Lucas Bravo). Star hinted that the story between the two is far from over. “I don’t think that Emily and Gabriel would be … I don’t think it’ll be an instant relationship, though I do believe that people can find their way back to each other,” he said, suggesting a slow-burn emotional arc rather than an immediate reunion. This will surely excite fans of the OG couple of the show.
