Ayushmaan on missing the role
Ayushmaan, following in his parents’ footsteps as an actor, explained why he didn’t land the part. He said, “They were looking for someone with extensive experience in Western classical singing. I have some experience, but not enough. "Like his elder brother, Aaryamann Sethi, Ayushmaan is a graduate of the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York.
Archana Puran Singh's reaction
Adding her humorous take, mother and actor Archana Puran Singh joked, “As an aspiring actor, it’s hard to explain what you’re doing. In India, we call it ‘struggle,’ but abroad, it’s just being an aspiring actor.”
The legacy of Kuljeet and DDLJ
DDLJ, one of Indian cinema’s most beloved films, tells the story of Raj (Shah Rukh Khan), an NRI who falls for Simran (Kajol) during a European trip. But Simran’s strict father (Amrish Puri) wants her to marry Kuljeet, her fiancé in Punjab, setting the stage for one of Bollywood’s most iconic love stories. Parmeet’s portrayal of Kuljeet, the charming yet arrogant Punjabi fiancé, remains one of Bollywood’s most memorable “other men.”
Parmeet on his own journey
Interestingly, Parmeet himself was initially rejected for Kuljeet. He recalled in a SCREEN interview, “I asked Aditya for a screen test. He smiled and called me again. I changed a few lines to give it more Punjabi essence, with Archana helping me. After a pause, he said, ‘You are my Kuljeet.’”Stay tuned to @TimesNow for more updates!
