Scams are increasing at an aggressive rate in India. You skip a heartbeat here, and voila, a new scam pops up. And the latest one in the line is the India Post update address scam. Coming to the details, a lot of Indians are receiving SMS stating that their parcel has arrived at a warehouse of India Post, but could not be delivered due to an incomplete address. After that, the message asks the recipients to update their address in a given timeframe to avoid the return of the package. Now, at first glance, the text message seems like a legit one, which can obviously worry someone who is waiting for a package. However, the message creates a sense of urgency by saying that if you fail to update the address, the parcel will be returned to the source.
And for the change of address, the users are supposed to click a link shared in the message. But, India Post and PIB have already clarified in a statement that the message is fake in nature and is designed to dupe people into giving their financial and personal details to scammers.
