As 2026 begins, Aditya Dhar’s espionage thrillerDhurandhar is making headlines once again - this time not just for its box office dominance, but for a revised theatrical version. Released on December 5,
2025, the Ranveer Singh and Akshaye Khanna starrer has enjoyed an extraordinary run, emerging as one of the biggest blockbusters in recent years. The film has shattered records, crossed the Rs 1,100 crore mark globally, and outperformed major hits such as Pathaan, Jawan, and Chhaava. Audiences have largely embraced the film for its gripping narrative, high-octane action, and Ranveer Singh’s intense portrayal of an Indian spy. However, alongside praise, Dhurandhar has also attracted controversy due to its political undertones, with some viewers branding it as propaganda. Now, adding another chapter to its eventful journey, the makers have introduced a modified version of the film in cinemas following directives from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
Dhurandhar's revised version hits theatres today
As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, cinema halls across India received an urgent email from distributors on December 31, 2025, instructing them to replace the film’s Digital Cinema Package (DCP). A source told the publication, “The reason for the change is that the makers have muted two words and changed a dialogue in the film, as per the directives received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India.”The updated version began screening in theatres from January 1, 2026. Industry insiders have since confirmed that one of the words removed from the revised cut is “Baloch.” While the makers have not issued an official statement detailing the changes, the swift rollout suggests the decision was taken to ensure the film’s uninterrupted theatrical run.
