Dhanush and Kriti Sanon are coming together for the first time in Aanand L Rai's Tere Ishk Mein. The filmmaker and Dhanush have earlier worked on Raanjhanaa (2013) and Atrangi Re (2021). Recently, the Tamil
star was asked why he was drawn to parts like Kundan in Raanjhanaa and Shankar in Tere Ishk Mein. The actor revealed that Aanand's films may look straightforward, but they were tricky parts to enact.
Tere Ishk Mein star Dhanush on challenging roles such as Kundan and Shankar
At a press conference in Delhi, the
Idli Kadai star was asked why he was drawn to aggressive roles like Kundan and now Shankar. His co-star Kriti helped translate the question. Dhanush replied, "Aanand calls me for these kinds of films. I asked him, why you keep calling me? He looked at my face. Kriti or Aanand, one of them, told me, you have a great love failure face."
Kriti interjected, "You have the face of a heartbroken man." The actor went on to add, "That day I went back, and I kept looking at my face. What is it about me that... I took it as a compliment. But to be very honest, it's a very challenging role, even Raanjhanaa or this. It looks simple; Raanjhanaa especially looks simple, but it's not. It's a very complicated part to play; a little bit that way or this way, and you may end up not liking Kundan... so a lot of precaution, lot of practice, homework had to be done because it's a very tricky part to create. So likewise, Shankar is very easy to like, but he has his own challenges, which I can't say much now."

Yes, this is what I've been waiting for; I can do something. I don't have to learn the lines, go in front of the camera, say the lines, and come back. I have to work on it. So not often do you get scripts like this. It's nothing to do with aggression; it's just a good part with challenges," Dhanush concluded.
Tere Ishk Mein, which also stars Prakash Raj, is releasing in theatres on November 28. AR Rahman has composed the score for the romance drama.
