Filmmaker Vishnuvardhan made his directorial debut with Shershaah in 2021. Starring Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani in lead roles, the film is a biographical drama based on the life of Indian Army Captain Vikram Batra. Sidharth portrayed dual roles in the war drama. He featured as Captain Vikram Batra and his twin Vishal Batra. The film follows the journey of Vikram Batra from his young cadet days to becoming an officer in Kargil War. He was martyred during Operation Vijay in 1999. Sidharth was appreciated for his performance in this film.
Agastya Nanda in Ikkis
Amitabh Bachchan's grandson, Agastya Nanda, starred in Sriram Raghavan's Ikkis. The war drama is based on the life of 2nd Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal. He was the youngest Param Vir Chakra awardee. The film highlights Arun Khetarpal's training days to the time he fought Battle of Basantar during the 1971 Indo-Pakistani war. He got martyred while fighting the battle against Pakistan. Agastya played the lead role, while late Dharmendra essayed the character of his father, Brigadier ML Khetarpal.
Sunny Deol in Border
Based on events of the Battle of Longewala, JP Dutta's Border featured Sunny Deol Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri. He was the Commander of Alpha Company, 23rd Battalion, Punjab Regiment. Apart from Sunny, the film starred Jackie Shroff, Sudesh Berry, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, and others. Directed by JP Dutta, the war drama was theatrically released on June 13, 1997.
Farhan Akhtar in 120 Bahadur
Helmed by Razneesh Ghai, 120 Bahadur stars Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati. The movie is based on the Battle of Rezang La. It was fought between Indian and Chinese soldiers during the Sino-Indian war of 1962. Farhan was seen as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, who was posthumously conferred with Param Vir Chakra award.
