The
Netflix film The Adventures of Cliff Booth is not expected to be released until the second half of 2026. The streaming service gave viewers a pleasant surprise after debuting the teaser for the David Fincher film during the Super Bowl. Brad Pitt reprises his role as Cliff Booth from the 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In case you’ve forgotten about Pitt’s Oscar-winning role in the Quentin Tarantino ode to Hollywood and the Charles Manson era, here’s a quick refresher. The sequel will take place in the 1970s and features Scott Caan, Elizabeth Debicki, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in key roles.
Who is Cliff Booth?
The character first made his appearance in Tarantino’s
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as a stunt double for Leonardo DiCaprio's movie star Rick Dalton. Set in 1969, the duo navigates a changing Hollywood. Dalton’s neighbours are young actress Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) and her husband, director Roman Polanski (Rafał Zawierucha). It is thanks to their heroics in the film that the infamous Tate murders are averted.
The stunt performer is on his own in the sequel, which finds him as a Hollywood studio fixer. The spinoff film focuses on Booth’s adventures, venturing beyond the Hollywood lot to different areas, from seedy bars to the derby race track. The synopsis for the film has not been revealed, but like the first film, there are expected to be some Hollywood tie-ins. Besides Pitt, Timothy Olyphant is also reprising his role as actor James Stacy.
The Adventures of Cliff Booth teaser
The film’s teaser has not been released officially by Netflix, but that hasn’t stopped it from being leaked online. The teaser shows a bruised-up Cliff meeting the characters played by Elizabeth Debicki and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and regaling them with his former exploits. The retro-sounding teaser with music of the period cheekily had several objects crudely censored out, as if with a pen. Guns, alcohol, cigarettes, nudity and anything objectionable have been hidden from the family audience during
Super Bowl LX.
