Gmail Gets Deep Google Gemini Integration: AI Inbox, AI Overviews In Search, Proofread Feature, And More

Google has taken a step forward to make Gmail more than just a mailing app with heavy Gemini integration. The new features offered by Google are created to give a more personalised interface to the users.

Vice President of Product at Google, Blake Barnes, said, 'This is us delivering on Gmail proactively having your back, showing you what you need to do and when you need to do it. Don’t worry, the traditional inbox will remain available. This is simply a new view you can toggle in and out of as you please to cut through the noise of your incoming mail.'

New Google Gemini Features Coming To Gmail

AI Inbox: The AI Inbox feature will allow users to view AI-generated snapshots of important updates. It will have two categories - Suggested to-dos and topics to catch up on. In the suggested to dos sections, you will get to see messages like bills to pay and more. As for topics to catch up on, here you will get to see updates divided into categories like purchased finances, etc. AI Overviews: Yes, we are getting AI overviews in emails, and the feature will let users ask questions in natural language and then get an immediate answer based on their emails. This could be a great feature for people who get dozens of mails every hour and are on the throat of their search bar.Hep Me Write: This one works as a personal email composer for you. Previously, the feature was only available for paid Gemini users, but now this feature will also be available for free users. AI Thread And Proofread feature: The AI thread feature will automatically generate the summary of long email conversations so that users don't have to go through all the messages. Apart from that, the proofread AI feature, as the name suggests, will help users in drafting emails with clearer intent.
