Parasakthi Shows NOT Cancelled Over Poor Bookings; France Distributor Warns Of Legal Action Over Fake News

buzz around Sivakarthikeyan’s Parasakthi remains strong, with fans eagerly awaiting the actor’s first collaboration with acclaimed director Sudha Kongara. The period drama, reportedly made on a budget of Rs 150–250 crore, is scheduled to hit screens during the Pongal festive week. While anticipation for the film is high, recent social media posts alleged that the film’s shows in France were cancelled after selling only 16 of the 905 available seats. Following the viral claims, the film’s official overseas distributor, Friday Entertainment, issued a clarification, strongly refuting the reports and calling it fake news. The distributor also warned of legal action against those responsible for spreading misinformation.

According to unverified trade reports circulating online, the alleged cancellation was attributed to low ticket sales for the premiere. The claims quickly became a talking point among fans and trade circles, with comparisons being drawn to the overseas popularity of Vijay’s Jana Nayagan, particularly in European markets. However, Friday Entertainment shut down the rumours through an official statement on social media. The post read:“False information is currently being spread regarding the Parasakthi film premiere (AVP). The event is going ahead as planned. Appropriate action will be taken against those spreading this misinformation. Please rely only on official sources.”

As per reports, Parasakthi narrates the story of student leader M. Rajendran, who lost his life during protests. The film is described as a powerful tale of student activism and patriotism, layered with strong socio-political undertones. The Sivakarthikeyan-starrer was initially slated for release on January 14, it was preponed to January 10. Dawn Pictures confirmed the change in an official statement on X on December 22, stating, “We wish to inform the media and audiences that the release of Parasakthi has been preponed to January 10, 2026.” The producers wrote that the decision was taken due to “sustained demand from theatrical stakeholders” and to “maximise its theatrical potential” during the festive season. Parasakthi also stars Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela (in her Tamil debut), along with Dev Ramnath, Prithvi Rajan, Guru Somasundaram, and Basil Joseph.
