The Artemis II moon mission is going strong, and the flyby of the Moon happened yesterday, when the astronauts came within just 4,067 miles of the Moon. The crew in the Orion capsule reached approximately 252,756 miles away from Earth, shattering the record created by Apollo 13. The flyby lasted around seven hours, and astronauts explored the views of the moon and its surface that was not been seen before by human eyes. And just a while ago, NASA shared the Image of Earth that the crew captured from beyond the Moon. Talking about the details of the photograph, we can clearly see the Earth and the moon casting a shadow over it. The image is one of the most beautiful depictions of Earthset to ever exist. For those who are unaware, Earthset could
be dubbed the view of Earth going down from the perspective of the Moon, just like a sunset from the Earth. The photo clearly depicts how the space is blank without any atmosphere - absence of Blue Sky and zero light scattering. From a personal point of view, for the very first time, the Earth doesn't look like home but just another planet following rise and set timelines in real time.NASA Artemis II Explained: Why Humans Are Still Needed For Moon Mission Despite Robots Coming back to the flyby, all the communications with the astronauts stopped for around 40 minutes during Orion's transit behind the moon. After the flyby. Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman thanked the NASA science team for putting together such an exciting program. He said, 'We were well prepared, and we appreciate all of you, and this is what we do best when we all come together and work as a team. So y’all knocked it out of the park. Thank you for giving us this opportunity'On a concluding note, the Artemis II crew has taken more than thousands of photographs that will help scientists back on Earth to understand the Moon and its origins.
