Given Prabhas' massive stardom, it would be a surprise for several to know that he never wanted to be an actor. Despite belonging to film family - His father is producer Uppalapati Surya Narayana Raju and his uncle, Krishnam Raju Uppalapati, Prabhas initially wanted to get into business, preferably, he wanted to become a hotelier as he loved food.In an interview in the past Prabhas said he was too shy to be in films. But, his father thought it would work. It took a lot of time for him to think about getting into the world of cinema. He said "Given my family background, every time I was was asked about becoming an actor, he would say 'How can someone act in front of so many people?'
His decision of becoming a film actor happened overnight when he imagined himself in uncle Krishnam Raju Uppalpati's film. Soon, he told his father that he wants to become an actor, which left him (Prabhas' father) in shock.Since then, there is no looking back! He the went on to deliver hits such as Varsham, Darling, Mr. Perfect, Rebel and Mirchi.At 45, after completing 23 years in cinema Prabhas has become a pan-Indian star, who maintains an enigma around him.

He is currently awaiting the release of The Raja Saab, a horror comedy with Maruthi which hits screens in January during Sankaranti. He is also working on Fauji with Hanu Raghavapudi, while Spirit his intense cop drama with Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is in pre-production. He will also work on Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2, Salaar 2.
